The emails Elinor might have written had she more sensibility than sense. I’ll admit to one email she most definitely would not have written, but we’d all like to think she should/could have. Easy to spot…

lol I liked Re:Die, bitch, die! to Lucy Steele. That scene at the end with Emma Thompson gets me every time :)

One of my favorite scenes, too. In the book, Lucy Steele comes across as much nastier IMHO. But it’s hard to read without the film images butting in.

Thanks very much for the laughs, this stuff is comedy gold. You must be a shoo-in with the ladies; you’ve got this Henry Tilney vibe about you.

May I suggest North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte for future consideration?

LOL Megan – a shoo-in with the ladies! Would that it were so ;-) Fortunately for me, I’m happily married. Thanks for the suggestions: Jane Eyre is planned for later in the year and have now added N&S to the list…

Brilliant! You’ve got Marianne spot on as well as John Dashwood’s “I’d love to help, but”. So funny, so perfect!

The many Re: Willoughby’s are so perfect! Thanks for a good laugh!

“Edward and Elinor, sitting in a tree, E-ST-EE-M-I-N-G!”

Thank you for the laughs! This is so in character. (Well, except for the die-bitch part, which is not in character but it’s just what you want to say.) I’m a bit surprised you didn’t use Brandon’s confession about his dark and tragic past, or Willoughby’s pathetic it’s-all-about-me “apology”, but you found so many other things to make it interesting and funny! Looking forward to the next Jane Austen heroine.

Thanks…yep, just couldn’t resist the die-bitch one, even though it’s not exactly Austenesque in its language! Brandon and Willoughy will be making return appearances later in other S&S inboxes. Be a while though, as many other fish to fry first…

Thank you for these two funny inboxes! We at Pemberley are highly amused!

Hilarious! Do you have plans to do these for any other Austen novels?

Mark Brownlow March 22, 2011 at 6:32 pm

Yes, all of them! Have to re-read them first. P&P is no problem, but I’m not so intimately familiar with, for example, Northanger Abbey…

Northanger is actually my favorite. I love satire. Can’t wait for more of these.

Oh, I want to be NOTIFIED when you do Persuasion and Mansfield Park, I really do.

Persuasion and Jane Eyre are the next two “literary” inboxes scheduled…

Jolly good!! All of it, but what made me laugh out loud was E-S-TEE-M-I-N-G. =)
